The pace of progress in domestic display panels is putting increasing pressure on South Korean manufacturers.
Data from Omdia shows that the share of Chinese mainland brands in the global large-size display panel market has surpassed 50 percent for the first time.
So-called large-size panels include TVS, monitors, laptops, tablets, etc., and are mainly distinguished from the likes of mobile phones.
In terms of manufacturers, BOE is expected to rank first with 33.1 percent, followed by Innolux with 13.3 percent.
While this is partly due to Samsung and LG making little investment in LCD screens in favor of higher-value OLeds, the DSCC notes that Chinese manufacturers are also picking up speed in OLED, with a 47 percent share of shipments by 2025, once again on par with South Korea.
However, 2022 was not a great year for large display panels, with total shipments down 8 percent year on year.
